Kenneth Leon Roberts

October 1, 1953 — January 3, 2017

Kenneth Leon Roberts, 63, passed peacefully from this life into eternity following a long illness on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2017 at his home. He loved the Lord, sharing the gospel with all of his neighbors. He deeply loved his grandchildren, Piper and Emmy, his cat, Riley. He was an avid watcher of Gunsmoke. He is preceded in death by his parents, Monnie Lou Roberts and Lloyd William Roberts; brothers, Eddie Ray and Jeff Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Roberts; Son, Chad and wife Sadie Roberts; grandchildren, Piper Kate and Emmy Rose; Sisters, Joyce Mellons and family; and Clara Mullins and family; Brothers, Charles Roberts, Steve Roberts and family, David Roberts and family, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will take place at Preaching Christ Church (707 E. Sullivan St. Downtown Kingsport) on Thursday evening. The family will receive friends from 5pm - 7pm and the service will take place at 7pm with his son, Pastor Chad Roberts and Pastor Bob Howerton, officiating. Graveside service will be held at Holston View Cemetery on Friday January 6th at 11am. Please check TrinityMemorialCenters.com for time changes if the weather conditions worsen. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Preaching Christ Church because the family so values the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Roberts family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his Hospice Nurses, Tina Reed and Jackie Reeves.
