Junior Dean Royal, 75, of Bristol, VA, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023.
A native of southwest Virginia, Junior was born to Redford and Ruby Royal. Junior was a talented musician who played most string instruments. Over the years, he had several bands including “Royal Grass,” “Dixie River Boys,” and “Classic Country.” Along with his spouse, Nancy, Junior raised four children: Mary, Judy, Missy, and Jessie.
In addition to his parents, Junior is preceded in death by his brother, Jessie Royal; sister, Betty Blevins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving spouse, Nancy Elam; daughters, Mary (Steve) Turner, Judy Honaker, Missy (Justin) Davis, Jessie Royal; grandchildren, Bruce Elam, Joanna Turner, Phillip Turner, Hannah Finch, Stephanie Turner, Madelyn Turner, Kayla Owens; great-grandchildren, Parker Elam, Jaxson Mann, Emma Turner; sister, Judy (Jimmy) Nunley; multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 6 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Gospel Baptist Church, 7356 Reedy Creek Road, Bristol, Virginia. A graveside committal service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 3 at Shipley Cemetery, Hickory Tree, Bristol, TN. Military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Junior’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
