Joshua Aaron “Squishy” McConnell

December 06, 1996 - August 25, 2019

Joshua Aaron McConnell, 23, was reported missing on April 13, 2019. He was discovered on August 25, 2019. Joshua was born on December 6, 1996 in Kingsport, Tennessee to Chad McConnell and Melisa McConnell. His passions were Yu-Gi-Oh cards, playing guitar, skateboarding and indulging in his spirituality. He brought much joy and light to those around him. He was a true peacemaker with a golden heart well beyond his years.

Joshua is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Brenda A. Lingerfelt; and stepfather, Billy R. Coffey II.

He is survived by his daughter, Violet McConnell; paternal grandmother, Sue Kern and husband, Mick Castle; paternal grandfather, William McConnell and wife, Peggy; step-grandfather, Jerry Lingerfelt; father, Chad McConnell and stepmother, Sharon Hopkins; mother, Melisa McConnell; brothers, Scott McConnell, Codie Denton, Brandon McConnell, Austin McConnell and Matthew McConnell; sister, Ashley McConnell; stepbrothers, Devon Parsons, Dakota Parsons and Billy Coffee III and wife, Lexie; stepsister, Breanna Parsons; paternal uncle, Will McConnell; paternal aunts, Karen Ferguson and husband, Brian, and Kristy Lilly and husband, Shawn; maternal aunts, Linda Miller and husband, Rick, Angela Dotson and Pamela Fleenor and husband, JJ; stepaunts, Tammy Way and husband, Michael, Tina Gouge and husband, Charles, and Patricia Peterson and husband, Shawn; and many, many loved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

We would like to express deep appreciation to Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home who graciously donated their services for recovery of Joshua from Roanoke, the family that discovered him, the many who donated toward his service, and all who put forth time, effort and prayer in finding our son. All involved share the same light Joshua so freely gifted to those surrounding him. This world has truly lost an earth angel.

A private celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 16, 12019 for immediate family only. Your kindness and understanding is appreciated.
