Joseph Wayne Quales

Joseph Wayne Quales, age 75 of Bristol, Virginia, went home to live with Jesus forever on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Joe was a life-long resident of Bristol, growing up in the "Willie Boom" area of Bristol, Tennessee. He was born on July 15, 1940 to the late Mildred Quales McCracken, and was the father of 5 adoring sons. He was a talented artist, poet, songwriter and a dedicated Christian family man. He served in the US Army with the 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 1959-1961. His favorite ball cap declared that he was a "Screaming Eagle for Jesus! Airborne for Heaven." Joe is survived by his five sons, Joey and wife, Kim, Larry and wife, Sharon, Rick, who lived with him and cared for him in the later years of his life, Donnie and wife, Kristy and Jamie and wife, Cris, all of the Bristol area; and two very special friends, Tilford and Virginia Harrell of Boones Creek, Tennessee. He had eleven grandchildren, Bethany Quales, Justin and wife, Andrea, Ricky and Miranda Quales, Carrie Pruitt, Faith and Logan Quales, Chase Jordan, Taylor Burns, Chad Hutton, and Kayla Ison. Joe was also blessed to have five great grandchildren, Alexia, Austin and Kimberly Dickens, as well as Chloe Quales and Malachi Pruitt. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2016 at 8 pm at Central Baptist Church located at 608 Mary Street in Bristol, Va. Pastor Rex Carter and Brother Joey Quales will officiate. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6-8 pm, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wellmont Hospice House in Joe's honor. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
