Lance Corporal Joseph Edward Faulkner, 66, of Abingdon, VA, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Joe was born in Bristol, Virginia and attended John Battle High School. In 1971, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp spending his time at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he proudly served for 4 years. After he was discharged he returned to Bristol where he attended Highlands Community College receiving his certificate in heating and air. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was affectionately known as “Motorcycle Joe”.

He is survived by his mother Edith (Doane) Faulkner; his awesome, loving son Jason Faulkner and wife Rachel; siblings Barbara Faulkner, Susan Johnson and husband Phil, Michael Faulkner and wife Missy; grandchildren Gavin, Lauren, Zoey, Nathan, Sydney, and Raegan; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and best friends Shawn Southwick and Mark Hutton.
Military Honors will be held on Monday May 13, 2019 at 2:30pm at Trinity Memorial Centers in Kingsport. A celebration of his life will follow after in Abingdon, VA.
Joe’s final offering to the world was a generous donation of tissue in order to give someone else the gift of sight.
