Johnny Calvin Stewart

May 19, 1960 — September 10, 2019

Johnny Calvin Stewart rode into his final earthly sunset September 10th, 2019, surrounded by loving family and friends. Borrowing from the westerns he loved, Johnny fought a tough cancer fight and “died with his boots on”. He will be welcomed to his heavenly home by his parents, John C. and Josephine Sanders Stewart; sister, Margaret Ann; brother, Marvin Lynn Stewart; grandparents, Emory and Edith Sanders, Maude and Oakley Stewart; several aunts, uncles, cousins, close cousin, J.C. Stewart; beloved horses, Magic and Sunshine. Left to cherish his memory, Jeannette Stewart of his home; son, Johnathan “John” Stewart and wife Andrea Stewart of Wise, VA; sister, Phyllis Stewart of Mount Carmel, TN; four legged family, Jack, Jill, Dottie, Sandy, Precious, Tickles, Dixie, Pistol, and Mocca; as well as a host of loved friends. Johnnys love of animals, especially horses and dogs began early in life. He attended Twin Springs High School and graduated from Plainfield High, Connecticut, where he met future wife, Jeannette. Johnny returned home to Ft. Blackmore with his family in the 80s. He worked at Broadwater Trading Co. and Gate City Planning Mill. He and Jeannette later began Stewart Kennels and Dog Grooming. Johns family are grateful for the special care and support of Mike Lane and Dr. Todd Cassel, neighbors, Shirley and Merle Pierson; friends, Fred Carter, Randy Cordle, Scotty Dockery, Toby Hamilton, Honey Kerns and Junior Lane. All the neighborly kind works, prayers, words and visits are appreciated. Johnny had the gift of gab, a lending hand and never met a stranger “Good ride cowboy, until we meet again”. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 14th at 6pm at Pendletons Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Blackmore, VA. Music will be provided by Chris Holder and James Mann. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions may be given to Johnnys family and farm. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
