John Joseph Martin

John Joseph Martin, 88, of Blountville, TN passed away on October 25th, 2023.
John, known as Jack by his family and friends, was born on September 30th, 1935, in Hawthorne, New Jersey to James Francis Martin and Emma Josephine Martin, née Rose.
After Jack graduated from St. John's Cathedral High School, Patterson, New Jersey in 1953 he went on to work for Prudential Insurance, from 1953 through 1967, advancing to Systems and Programming Manager.
From 1968 through 1985 he worked for Hoffmann La Roche of Nutley, New Jersey where he was an Information Management Group Manager. While he was at Hoffmann La Roche, he went to college, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Montclair University, Montclair, New Jersey, in 1984 with a BSBA.
From 1985 to 2004 he worked at Lockheed, Inc. as a Program Manager.
During the Vietnam Era he served in the Marine Corps Reserve.
In 2004 Jack retired, moving first from Florida to North Carolina and then to Tennessee, telling family he wanted to be within an easy drive of the Barter Theatre.
Jack enjoyed the theater, and he was an avid reader. He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport, Tennessee and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jack is survived by is wife, Cynthia Montgomery; his daughter, Karen Martin and her husband John Gygli; his granddaughter, Angelee Lanzano; by his former wife Geraldine Barnette; by his brother, Richard Martin and his wife Theresa; his stepson, Jason Montgomery and his wife Tamara; his step-granddaughter Gabriella Chester and her husband Nicholas Chester; and his brother-in-law Bill Warren.
