Jerry Ray Smith

April 8, 1947 — April 6, 2024

Jerry Ray Smith, 76, from Church Hill, TN, peacefully joined the angels and his cherished departed on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Born in Kingsport and raised in Virginia, Jerry's life was a testament to love, laughter, and hard work.
Jerry had a passion for tinkering with cars, a skill he honed over the years. He took immense love and pride in his family, finding joy in the roles of devoted husband and loving father. When he wasn't under the hood of a car, he could often be found enjoying his beloved western shows, his laughter filling the room.
For many years, Jerry dedicated himself to his work at a glass manufacturing plant. His outgoing nature and genuine kindness earned him the love and respect of many. Described as a sweet man with a kind heart and impeccable manners, Jerry had a knack for conversation and could always be counted on for a good laugh.
In the words of his loving wife Shirley, Jerry possessed the "sexiest voice" and a memorable sense of humor that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, John Carter Smith and Pauline Annie Smith, and his brother, Arvil Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Shirley Smith; his son, John Devoti, and daughter-in-law Christine; his daughter, Tammy Long, and her partner Tammy Lightner; his grandchildren, Jerry Smith, Anna Doss, Vincent Devoti, Kevin Devoti, Steven Devoti, and Brittany Devoti; and his great-grandchildren, Hayden Doss and Isaiah Bowlin.
At this time, the family has opted for no formal funeral arrangements.
Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is privileged to serve the family during this time.
