Jerry Houston Yakley, 67, of Rogersville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018. Jerry was born in Kingsport, Tn on April 10th, 1951 to the late, Oda & Willis Yakley; He is also preceded in death by his brothers, J.W., Lynn, Larry, and Edd; sisters, Glenda Yakley, and Bolena Mullendore. Jerry was owner of Yakley's Firewood. Over the years he sold hundreds of loads to his Tri-Cities customers. Prior to taking over the family business he was a heavy equipment operator for Thomas Construction of Johnson City, Tn. He lived his life his way, but always family was #1. It's what you leave behind you when you go.... Jerry is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy; daughter, Lisa and husband Phillip Overbey; he was "Poppy" to his two granddaughters, Presley and Elizabeth "Buffy" Overbey; sisters, Patty Yakley, and Robin (Gary) Boggs; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; special friend, Brandon Bays. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 21 at Trinity Memorial from 11am to 1pm. Graveside service to follow at Walker Fork Baptist Church Cemetery (6460 Lone Star Rd, Kingsport, Tn) with Pastor Greg Street officiating. Phillip Overbey will provide music. Nephews & friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WFC Cemetery Fund (make checks to in care of Carolyn Lawson, 174 Forest Road, Fall Branch, TN 37656).
