1966 - 2024

Jeffrey G. Houseright, 57, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Jeff was a man of deep faith, a proud veteran, and a beloved member of his community who touched the lives of many with his kindness and zest for life.

A lifelong resident of the area, Jeff graduated from Rye Cove High School before serving his country with honor in the United States Army. His service took him to Germany, and he later continued his dedication at Fort Hood, Texas. Jeff's love for the outdoors was unparalleled; he found joy in hunting, fishing, and traveling the country in pursuit of big game. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his love for his Tennessee Volunteers, a passion that he shared with friends and family alike.

Jeff was an inspiration to many, known for his outgoing nature and generous heart. He cherished time spent antiquing and taking long drives with his mother, creating memories that will be cherished by those who knew him. His family and friends will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest, always willing to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Kelcie Houseright Sr.; his grandparents, Claude and Lois Babb, and Leonard and Mary B. Houseright; and his nephew, Joshua Jones.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his wife, Sheri; his son, Justin Houseright, and his wife, Angela; step-children, Bo Shaffer and wife Bobbie, Logan Shaffer and wife Roni, and Peyton Shaffer; grandchildren, Addison Houseright and Kaydence Shaffer; mother, Mary R. Houseright; sister, Kathy Jones, and her husband Greg; brother, Kelcie Houseright, and his wife Amanda; nieces and nephews, Kelly Houseright, Brandon Thomas and wife Ashley, Brent Thomas and wife Meghan, Amber Jackson and husband Dave, Kierra Thomas, Deyton Jones, Daylin Jones, and Bella Jones; great nieces and nephews, Olivia and James Thomas, Aviana and Eliza Thomas; and two special aunts, Helen Jones and husband Harold, and Brenda Swanner.

Jeff's life will be celebrated in a memorial service at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the man who meant so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to remember Jeff by enjoying the outdoors, cheering on the Vols, or simply offering a kind word to someone in need.
