Jeffrey Blaine Matherly

Jeffrey "Jeff" Matherly, 61, of Butler, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Jeff was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee at Carter County Memorial Hospital, on February 11th, 1962. He attended Johnson County High School. Jeff was an avid hunter and farmer. Jeff was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church. He worked at North American Rayon for 11 years, after which he worked as a landscaper until he was unable to work anymore. Jeff adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

He is preceded by; his brother, David Michael Matherly; his nephew, James McNulty; his former spouse, Karen White; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jeff is survived by; his two sons, Justin Matherly and Daniel Smith(Tara); his grandchildren, Aubrey and JJ, Gavin, Owen, and Max; his mother, Brenda Rainbolt Penix and husband Thomas; his father, Clarence Matherly; his brother, James R Matherly; his sister, Rebecca Proffitt(Dave); his aunts, uncles, many cousins, several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. The family would like to mention special friends, Regina Greene and Donna Potter.

The family will be celebrating Jeff's life at a later date, yet to be determined.

While in their care, Jeff received exceptional care from his ICU nurses: Lisa, Megan, and Taylor.
