Jeffery "Jeff" Lynn Rutherford

Jeffery Lynn Rutherford, 59, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 peacefully, but unexpectedly at his mother's home in Lexington, KY. Jeff resided in Kingsport, TN with the love of his life Theresa Rutherford and his son Matthew Rutherford. He was born in Wise County, VA, the son of Reuben E.J. Rutherford and Evelyn (Boggs) Rutherford. Jeff attended Pound High School and was an avid runner. He had a shot at the state championship and won the district and region mile and two mile. From Wise County, he then moved to Maryland for a few years where he began his career in roofing and construction work. He spent the remainder of his working career at Vanderpool Roofing and Construction as long as his health permitted. Jeff loved his family deeply. He adored Theresa and Matthew with whom he shared a home with. Jeff was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and followed the Tennessee Volunteers. Jeff also loved nascar racing. Jeff adored his mother whom he spoke with very often. He will always be remembered as a loving father, wonderful son, and dedicated brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his father, Reuben E.J. Rutherford; maternal and paternal grandparents Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and love Theresa Rutherford; son, Matthew Rutherford, mother, Evelyn Rutherford; brothers, Greg (Maydean) Rutherford, Roger Rutherford, Toney (Allison) Rutherford; sister, Theresa Rutherford, Becky Rutherford, and Sharon (Chet) Renaud; Jeff adored his many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Our lives will forever be changed with out our Jeff, but our hearts know the promise of GOD will unite us together again.
