On Saturday (January 3, 2015) our sweet and loving husband and father, James Wilson Edwards, Sr., 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a very hard working and caring man that was loved and respected by many. Before moving to Kingsport in 1966, he owned and operated a dairy farm. His family owns and operates ServiceMaster Clean of Kingsport for the last 48 years. He and his loving wife are thirty-five year members of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Edwards; nephew, Jason Slate Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Josephine Edwards, of the residence; 3 children, Rebecca Jean (Edwards) Hickman and husband Kenneth, of Kingsport; James W. Edwards, Jr. and wife Sheila, of Kingsport; Mike and wife Missy Edwards, of Church Hill.; his loving mother of 101 years, Juanita King Edwards, of Kingsport; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles E. Edwards and wife Sue, of Georgia; one sister, Betty Jo Bowman and husband Roger, of Knoxville, Tn.; a host of nieces, nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday (January 6, 2015) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church (406 Cooks Valley Road Kingsport, Tn.). The funeral service will follow with Pastor Roy Graves and Reverend Dave Birch officiating. The committal service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday (January 7, 2015) at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Sunnyside Baptist Church (c/o building fund) (406 Cooks Vally Road Kingsport, Tn.).
