James Ray Powers

James "Jimmy" Ray Powers, 56, of Norton, VA, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Norton, where he worked at Food Lion for several years before retiring. Jimmy was an avid outdoors man who loved to fish and camp. He was a huge sports fan and loved cheering for his Miami Dolphins. He was known as a gifted writer who wrote many poems. Jimmy also loved the Lord and spent much time studying his Bible.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry York Powers, Sr. and Freda Mae Powers; brother, Michael Powers; sister-in-law, Kathy Powers; uncle, Larry Powers

Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his son, Andrew Powers; brothers, Barry Powers, Jerry Powers, Jr. (Kim); sisters, Sharon Stanley (Ronnie), Pam Bolling, Teresa Carty; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Johnny Lawson; many other friends.

The family will be observing their own private service for Jimmy.
