James Mason

October 3, 1950 — March 20, 2021

James “Jim” Alvin Mason, 70, of Blountville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Jim was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee and grew up in Kingsport. Jim then moved to Florida and lived there for 25 years. He moved back to Blountville, Tennessee in 2006. James went into the Airforce in 1971 and left in 1975. Once leaving the Airforce he became a Registered Nurse and retired. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and loved life. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He had a love for all animals especially his two dogs BonnieLou and Buster. Jim was a loving husband and brother. He was loved by all. He is preceded in death by his mother, Arcy Triebe; his father, James Mason; and Sister, Pam McDonald. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, Mary Mason; his sisters, Janet (Fred) Edwards and Peggy Prillhart; brothers-in-law, Martin (Ann) Okkerse and Rudy (Paula) Okkerse; as well as several nieces and nephews. More than anything, Jim loved the Lord and his church family at Gunnings Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held at Gunnings Baptist Church on Thursday, March 25th 2021 at 11:00 am. The family would like to send special thanks to Bob Ferguson (Pastor of Gunnings Baptist Church) for his love, prayers, comfort and fellowship. As well as Dr. Tamara Musgrave, Rachel Freeman NP, Dr. Pierre Istfan, and to all at CVA Heart Institute in Bristol, and Ballad Cancer Center in Bristol. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Gunnings Baptist Church. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Mason family.
