James William "Jimmy" Buchanan

August 15, 1947 - February 13, 2025

James William "Jimmy" Buchanan, 77, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born in Coeburn, VA, Jimmy spent many years in Abingdon and Bristol, VA, before settling in Elizabethton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Buchanan and Opal Odle Buchanan; his great-grandson, Nathan Lee Whiteaker; and his son-in-law, Richard Poston.

Jimmy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kay Gilliam Buchanan; his daughters, Jamie Poston and Brandi Rimer (Terry); his grandchildren, William Whiteaker, Michael Whiteaker, Stacie Poston Swanson, and Scott Poston; and his great-grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, and Shiloh Whiteaker, as well as Isaiah and Adeline Swanson. He also leaves behind his sister, Nancy Cromer; his brother, Keddie Buchanan; special cousins, Nikki Adkins and Don Newman; and dear friends, Gary Chapman and Jim Smith.

Jimmy's life will be honored with a celebration at a later date.
