James Alan Falin

James Alan Falin, 43, of Gate City, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022. Alan was born December 29, 1978, to Benny and Janice Falin. He was a native of Scott County, Virginia. Alan had a fantastic sense of humor that was unforgettable. He had a wide variety of hobbies. His love for watching the History Channel and Food Network help him navigate his way on the grill. "Boy, Alan, cooked up a mean steak." He also enjoyed canning his bounty from his garden. He had a passion for the outdoors and riding his motorcycle enjoying the beauty of mother nature. It was very common to find him fishing or hunting on his farm. His farm was a gratifying and peaceful place that he loved to share with his family. Alan's kids have a lot of memories with him on the farm. His grandkids brought him a significant amount of enjoyment, and he loved to watch them grow. Alan was a very hard worker and always wanted to provide for whoever needed it. He was for sure loved by all and will be immensely missed. Alan was preceded by paternal grandfather, Joe Falin; maternal grandparents, James and Marybelle Calhoun; uncles, Terry Calhoun, Mikal Falin, Joe McDavid, and Carl Frazier; aunt, Teresa Calhoun. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Tyler (Aimee) Falin, Vanessa Falin, Trevor (Emalee Haun) Falin, Chasity (Ethan) Salyer, and Jonathan Howell; his Love and Companion, Miranda Howell; parents, Benny and Janice Falin; grandchildren, Cayden, Eli, Colten, Kinsley, and Olliver; grandmother, Betty Falin; brother, Steven (Cheyenna Campbell) Falin; cousins, Jason Lane, Jennifer Vicars, Travis Calhoun, Michael Calhoun, Josh Calhoun, Justin Calhoun, Sandy Martin, Billy Robinson, Nathan Frazier, Christy Smith, Robin Short, John Walters, Kimberly Walters, Shelby McDavid, Audra Hartsock, Jody Garrison; several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial Centers Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00. Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 11:00 on his Farm in Duffield per his request. Pastor Jackie Frazier will be officiating.
