Jack Walter Darnell, 81, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 after a brief illness. What best represents the culmination of one's life? How they live it. Jack was born in Scott Co. Virginia. He was a soldier and a builder who protected, nurtured and built up the things most cherished by him, his wife and children, brothers and sisters, and neighbors. You could not find a more kind and considerate man. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and walking his dog Cooper. Jack lived a full life, in love with his family, faithful to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and gentle to all those he came in contact with. The world was made a better place with him in it, and an empty place has been left by his departure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lola Darnell; sister, June Fogleman; and brother, Paul Darnell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Darnell; son, Randal Darnell; grandson, Michael Darnell and wife, Rebecca; great grandchildren, Emile, Zachary, and Carson; sisters, Janette and Joyce; brother, Billy; and several nieces and nephews. A private military graveside service for family will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 1pm with American Legion Hammond Post 3 and Gate City Post 265 officiating. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
