Ira Richard Delp

Ira Richard Delp, 81, went to be with his Savior Sunday, February 16, 2025. He passed peacefully in the early morning hours with family by his side.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Madge Delp of Gate City VA, and 3 siblings. Surviving him is one sister, Linda Neeley of Blountville TN, daughter Clarissa (Michael) Coffey of Dandridge TN, daughter Linda Delp of Gate City VA, daughter Rebecca Delp of Jonesborough TN, and 5 grandchildren.

In better days, Richard loved to fish and loved playing the guitar. When health issues would no longer allow him these activities, he enjoyed being with people who would play the guitar for him. He kept a guitar by his side in the nursing home, and anyone new entering his room was asked if they played. He was content to hear someone else play, but to his last day, he longed to go fishing again.

A special thanks to the wonderful people of Nova Health and Rehab, whose caring compassion, kindness, and love for Richard is appreciated by the family more than can be told. Thank you for every extra cup of coffee, every scolding he wouldn't heed, and every "I love you" as he was passing.
