Howard Douglas Love

Howard Douglas Love, 66, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Sunday, October 20th, 2019 with his family by his side. Howard was born in 1953 in Kingsport, TN. He lived here his whole life. Howard was an excellent carpenter and spent most of his early life building and selling his wares. He also loved horses. If he wasnt building then he was out riding his horses. Howard also rode and broke horses for other people as well. He also raised game chickens and enjoyed taking care of them. 35 years ago Howard met the love of his life while working pumping gas at Dytran Service Station. Melinda just happened to stop by for gas and it was love at first sight. After a brief two month courtship they practically were forced to go ahead and just get married already. They started a family and raised five wonderful children, Andy, Amber, BJ, Savannah and Levi, whom they loved more than life. He was a wonderful hardworking man who took care of this family, loved life, and had a kind caring heart of Gold. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Levi Love and Bernie Love; sister, Clara Love Greene. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 35 years, Melinda; children, Andy Applegate, Amber Applegate, BJ Applegate, Savannah Love, and Levi Love; grandchildren, David, Spencer, Andrew, Destiny, Jayden, Alyssa, Heaven, Isaiah,Uriah, Katelyn, Wyatt, Chloey, and Colton; sisters, Jo Ann Cox, Vicki Carberry, and Helen Moore; several nieces and nephews; special friend, David Little; and many other friends too numerous to count. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 23rd at Trinity Memorial from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral will follow at 7pm with Don Moore officiating. Graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11am at Dykes Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jared Moore, Jacob Moore, Don Moore, Levi Love, Paul Greene, and Wyatt Quillen. Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Love, Chloey Love, and Katelyn Quillen Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Love family.
