Herbert Michael Wilson

March 27, 1952 — July 21, 2024

1 Cor 13:12 " For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face-to-face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
Herbert Michael "Mike" Wilson finished his race having Victory in Jesus on Sunday, July 21st around 6 PM. He was surrounded by loved ones. He was born in 1952 to Herbert and Thelma Wilson. He was the oldest of five and proud to be their big brother and protector. He worked hard his whole life and held many jobs as a mechanic, steel worker, farmer, heavy equipment operator, driver, and his most recent being a campground host. He did whatever he needed to do to provide for his family. There wasn't much he couldn't do because he never stopped trying.

His first love was Patsy Brotherton and they married in 1970. God gave them 38 years together until He called her home. In 1976 their family grew by one with a daughter, Kim. I can undoubtedly say there has never been a day go by that I didn't feel and know my Daddy's love. He became Papaw to Eli in 2010 and was proud of him all the days of his life. God blessed him in that same year with his final love Denise Wilson. He loved and cherished her. God gave them almost almost 14 years together. She loved and cherished him and was by his side until Jesus called him home. He had so many loved ones and friends waiting on him in Heaven.

He leaves so many here to cherish his memory. I can't name them all but I'll start with his brother and sisters: Lonnie Wilson (wife Mary), Susie Ledford, and Debbie Story (husband Mike) Special son-in-law Jerry Powers; bonus daughter Danielle Davis; grand children Eli Wilson and Kaitlyn Powers; great grandchild Mia Powers; nephews Jamie Ledford and Garrett Howell; nieces Vickie Davis (husband Brandon), Peggy Anderson, Nicole Wilson, Megan Wilson, and Emmy Story. Sister-in-laws Tabitha Metcalf and Debbie Vance. Bonus family Samantha Adkins, Brayden Adkins & Amelia Rivas. He had so many friends that in his last few days here, his heart was so full from all the visits, calls, and messages.

He carried the Good News and preached the Gospel for over 40 years. He would preach in prisons and missions and churches all around the area. His heart's desire before Jesus called him was "Lord, just one more!" He's resting now in the arms of Jesus and to those who have accepted Him as their Savior it's a comfort to know that this is not goodbye. Anyone who knew Mike but doesn't know Jesus you too can have that same comfort. Salvation is a free gift. It was bought and paid for by Jesus on Calvary. God provided the Way through Christ and if you feel the Holy Spirit compelling you to come to Jesus, I know nothing would have made him happier than for you to open your heart and accept Jesus as your Savior.

Please join us on July 28th at Zion Church of Jesus to celebrate his life. The service will start at 2 PM. In leau of flowers, donations can be made to the church on that day or can be made directly to the Bank of Tennessee. The church is located at 415 Hwy 107 Unicoi, Tn. Parking will be limited but the joy of celebrating a Saint gone home is not.
