Henry Stephen Lowrance

March 19, 1949 — September 29, 2023

Henry Stephen Lowrance, 74, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away at 12:34 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, with his wife and daughter by his side.

In his 74 years here, Steve was able to experience life at its fullest and had many exciting stories to share, like proposing to Stevie Nicks at August Jam in the early 70s, being an escort for Irlene Mandrell during a fashion event, and teaching disco lessons. He found his faith, became a preacher, and moved to South Carolina on the call of God. There, he met his ultimate best friend and the love of his life, Linda. They shared 37 beautiful years together and made many great memories. Steve found his love for antiques and had a successful business for 35 years. He owned Blackberry Antiques for 30 years and continued to vend the Eagle Center. As a native of Carter County, he chose to serve his community on the Carter County Commission for several years and accomplished many great things. One would be very fortunate to have had a life like his.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lowrance; mother, Evelynn McQueen Lowrance; and his son-in-law, Bobby Eugene York.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Linda Lowrance; children, Kimberly Lyons (Timothy), Tracy Taylor (Jennifer), and Stephanie York. He has seven grandchildren (Chris, Ashley, Amanda, Cayla, Aubri, Canaan, and Stephen) and recently welcomed his first great-grandson. He is also survived by his cousin Wayne, the closest person he could have to a brother; his Sister in law, Sylvia Nobles; niece and nephew, Theresa Nobles and Jody Nobles..

Steve wished not to have a funeral service as he did not want to be mourned. The family will host a celebration of life once they can conclude their personal mourning process. Family and friends are welcome to visit the family anytime they wish to share their stories and good memories of Steve.

There is a saying that if a man has one true friend in their lifetime, he is fortunate. Steve was fortunate enough to have an entire crew of true friends that became family. On behalf of Steve, the family would like to express their gratitude to Terry "Mudd" Montgomery, Keith Davenport, John and Lisa Bunn, Tammy Troutman, Rick Milhorn, Dennis Hicks, Ricky Carver, Nick Schicker, Chuck McGuire, Bruce Wolters, Cecil, David "Moe" Brightman, Russ Brezler, Ray Crouch, and Pastors Kenneth Jordan and Jack Roddy. We would also like to thank Megan, Jerry, Jacqueline, and Katrina from Amedisys Hospice. All of you have been a great blessing to the family during this time. We will never forget.

Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Lowrance family.
