Harold Eugene Morrison, 77, of Kingsport, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Born in Sullivan County in 1946, Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army during his senior year and honorably served his country in Vietnam for two years. Following his service, he joined the Tennessee National Guard, dedicating nearly 38 years to his military career. Harold was immensely proud of his service, earning numerous accolades, including two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He achieved a significant milestone as the first man in the Tennessee Guard to graduate from the Sergeant Majors Academy in El Paso, TX.
Harold's daughter, Holly, was the light of his life, along with his beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. A man of many talents, he enjoyed carving and woodworking, and had a deep interest in his Cherokee heritage, often learning more about his past. Though a private man, Harold was a proud member of Kingsport Lodge No. 688 F&AM, where he valued his Masonic brotherhood, and a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles.
In his daughter Holly's eyes, Harold was her hero-her everything.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Sherry Morrison (Wilson); his daughter, Misty Lynn Morrison; his father, Harold Morrison Sr.; his mother, Bertha Johnson (Vermillion); his stepfather, Carson Johnson, who lovingly raised him; and his cherished grandmother, Irene Vermillion.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Holly Fink and her husband Robby; his treasured grandchildren, Oran Fields, Reagan Fink, and Isabella Fink; his brothers, Danny Johnson and Harold Morrison Jr.; his sisters, Linda Sue Morrison and Lisa Morrison; as well as several nieces, nephews, and his dear friend, Frank Ward.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Trinity Memorial on Friday, September 20th, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service will follow, with military honors provided by the American Legion Hammond's Post 3 and Gate City Post 265.
