Gregory Byrd

Gregory Byrd, 52, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Friday, October 12th, 2018. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1965. He graduated from Garden High School class of 1985. He joined the Army and served two terms. Byrd was very proud of his duty to this country. During this time he learned the skills to become a diesel mechanic. After leaving the military he went on to work as a diesel mechanic at several local businesses. Byrd enjoyed collecting and tinkering around the home. His dog Buddy was his best friend. His heart though belonged to his grandchildren. Byrd was a good natured person with a loving, kind, and honorable heart. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nella Koukos; brother-in-law, Carl Sisk; son-in-law, Joseph Miller. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Byrd and Joshua Revels, and Briana Litton; grandchildren, Ryan and Kylee; father, Curtis Byrd (Tazwell,VA); brothers, Thomas Koukos and wife Caroline (Wittenberg, WI), Michael Koukos and wife Laurie (Rockford, IL), George Koukos (Chicago, IL); sisters, Carolyn Byrd (Sevierville,TN), Jenny Sisk (Claypool Hill,VA), Doris Shoffner and husband Gary (Ashboro, NC), Crystal Cheek and husband Rolland (Staley, NC), Linda Chaput (Chicago, IL); Visitation for family and friends will be at Trinity Memorial on Thursday October 18th from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral service will follow with Pastor Chad Roberts officiating. Military graveside to be held at 1pm on Friday October 19th at Mountain Home VA Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post 3 / Gate City 265 providing military rites. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Byrd family.
