Grayce Carlene Silliman, 88, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

First and foremost, Grayce was a true southern lady; an example for all the women in her family to follow. She loved camping at Roan Mountain, feeding and enjoying all the birds, especially the cardinals. She was a great cook and loved to bake. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished spending time with them. She understood the warmth of the simple comforts of life: good food, slow days with the ones you love, and tight hugs. Anyone who knew her was touched by her kindness. Her love was unconditional. We are all better people for having had her in our lives.

Preceded by her mother, Kate Ashley; brothers, Charles Smith and William Ashley; daughters, Jonie Garrick and Kim Hammitt; and a son, Bryan Hammitt.

Survived by son, Craig Hyder and wife, Tracy; daughter, Lessa Schutt; son, Dale Hammitt; grandchildren, Ben Hyder, Luke Robinson, Amy Mancuso, Aryn Lawless, Dylan Cantey; great-grandchildren, Marlee Robinson, Janie Robinson, Jacob Mancuso, and Avery Mancuso; very special nephew, Doug Smith and his wife, Tracy.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Kingsport Community Church (2316 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport, Tennessee) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a service to follow.
