Garrett Samuel Cumbow (3/30/2001 - 10/22/2024) "We are confident, I Say, and would rather be absent from the body and at home present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8.
Garrett Samuel Cumbow, our beloved son, grandson, and brother unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 22nd, 2024 at only 23 years old. He was a beautiful person who was deeply loved by all who were blessed to know him.
Garrett was born in Johnson City on March 30th 2001 to his parents Michael Douglas Cumbow and Letitia "Tish" Tate Cumbow. Garrett graduated from Lighthouse Christian School in 2019 where he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He had a kind, loving and joyful soul. He had a deep appreciation for all genres of music, including blue grass where he learned to play the banjo. He loved to cook, go on adventures, and shoot with his dad and brother. He always touched the hearts of everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather James Roscoe Cumbow, his Maternal grandfather William Jesse Tate, his step grandfather Pastor Larry Thomas Bales and step-grandmother Lena Faye Hensley.
He is survived by his maternal grandmother Mary Sue Tate, His paternal Grandmother Betty Sue Cumbow Bales, his step-grandfather Phyllip Gale Hensley, his mother Letitia "Tish" Tate Cumbow, his father Michael Douglas Cumbow, his step-mother Holly Alison Hensley Cumbow, his brother Nathanael Seth Cumbow, his niece Maela Nellie Ruth Smith-Cumbow, Nathanael's Girlfriend Debra Ann Smith Hill and the love of his life Kylee Danielle Matusik.
Also left to cherish his memory are several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends all who loved him and will miss him so very much.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Trinity Memorial with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm.
