Fredrick James Park

Fredrick James Park, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024 at Holston Rehab in Kingsport, TN. Fred was born May 16, 1946 to the late Robert Delvin and Theresa Ann Park. He was a lifelong resident of Ohio before moving to Bristol, Tennessee in 2018 to be close to his daughter Amy and her family.

Fred is preceded in death by parents, Robert Delvin Park and Theresa Ann Langley Park; and son, Christopher Warren Park.

Fred is survived by his spouse, Beth Elaine Park of Tennessee; daughters, Amy Michelle Childress of Tennessee and Deborah Lynn Norris of Ohio; sisters, Linda Poole and Luanna Dodson of New Hampshire; granddaughters, Candace Park, Whitney Ross, and Erin Harris all of Ohio; grandson, Fredrick James Childress of Tennessee; several great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; several cousins; and, his step-children.

Fred graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Air force. He dedicated 25 years at Chilpaco paper company before going to nursing school where he was Valedictorian of his nursing class. He worked as a RN for Berger Hospital, receiving the Employee of the Year award in 2001 and retiring in 2006.

Fred served as the worshipful master of Scioto Lodge #6, Free and Accepted Masons; he also served as the royal arch captain of the Royal Arch Masons Chillicothe Chapter #4.

Fred devoted his life to his family and the Lord serving as a prison minister to the prisoners at Chillicothe Correctional Institute. Fred had a passion for weightlifting where he met his lifelong friend James Rummell. He was a former Mid-Ohio powerlifting champion. He loved fishing for walleye on Lake Erie. Fred was an avid WWE fan which he shared with his grandson Freddie. Fred will be remembered for his contagious laugh; his special bond with his daughter, Amy and Grandson, Freddie; and, his love of ice cream. Fred affectionately called himself "Mr. Wonderful," a sentiment his family wholeheartedly embraced.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony and receive friends at Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church, 301 Virgil Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37665 on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Leroy Hull will officiate the ceremony. The family will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony in Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in his honor.
