Frederick James Hegel

Frederick J. (Sparky) Hegel, 81, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Raised in New Jersey, he was employed by the Clorox Company as Safety Director and Environmental Coordinator. An employment opportunity brought him to Kingsport, Tennessee in 1991. Fred enjoyed vacations with family, Navy reunions and visiting historical sites.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; sisters, Virginia, Roberta, Lorraine; brother, Wallace.
Surviving, are his children, Maureen Hegel Petruska and husband, Steve, of Mount Carmel; James of Memphis, Gidget, and spouse Susan, Marino of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Travis and wife, Deonna, Darling of Kingsport; Shannon Stump of Kingsport; Steven Petruska of Mount Carmel; great-grandchildren, Jalissa and Lucas Darling; Jailyn and Jaxon Stump; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Veterans Way, Mountain Home, TN. Attendees need to arrive at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265 and the U.S. Navy.
