Elicia Marie Akers

Elicia Akers, 35, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 23, 2016. Elicia began her battle with many types of cancers since the age of 3. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping with her kids, and especially swimming at the lake. She was very proud of her children and they were her life. Elicia wanted nothing more than to unselfishly help other people and wanted to pursue social work. She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior, far from the pain she has suffered her whole life. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Thomas "Spike" Akers; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. She is survived by her mother, Sharon Hopkins; life partner, James Sluss; beloved children, James Blake Sluss, Brianna Marie Sluss and Lindsey Nicole Sluss; brothers, Phillip Wesley Hopkins and Chadrick Henson Hopkins; several aunts and uncles; 2 nephews; and 1 niece. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5 - 7 PM at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life is to follow at 7 PM with Pastor Darrel Milgram officiating.
