Edward A. Parise, Jr., 95, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024, at The Blake Assisted Living in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born August 5, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio and spent time growing up there and Thomasville, Georgia. After graduation, he attended Florida State and Emory University. He was a member of Army Intelligence Corps in the Philippines during the Korean War. He spent his career at Friden/Singer/TRW business machines and computers as a technician. He met his wife of 67 years, Betty J. Shell Parise, in Delray Beach, Florida. The couple moved to Kingsport in 1961, where they raised their children. Ed loved mechanical work and the outdoors, hunting, and visiting National Parks. He was a member of First Broadstreet United Methodist Church where he was active in the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class, mission trips, and the furniture ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. Parise, Sr. and Signe Julia Parise, his sister Louise Julia Gibbons, and daughter, Deborah G. Parise. Surviving family members are his wife Betty J., son Russell (Ann), two granddaughters, Jennifer (Dave) Miller and Laura (Colton) Morgan, and four great grandchildren, Chase and Brynn Miller and Gia and Nix Morgan.
A celebration of life will be held at The Blake on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Dr. Randy Frye officiating. The family is grateful to Smoky Mountain Hospice for their wonderful care and to the staff and residents of The Blake for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Holston Home for Children in Greeneville, TN or to First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport.
