Edna “Opal” Carter Sivert

July 14, 1930 — August 4, 2015

Edna “Opal” Carter Sivert, age 85, of Gate City, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday (August 4, 2015). She was born on July 14, 1930 in Scott County, VA. Opal was a homemaker whose home was always open to anyone. Opal was of the baptist faith and loved the Lord greatly. She enjoyed her family, friends, and her dog “Boots”. Opal was always willing to give and made sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was loved by many and was called “Mammaw” by many more than just her own grandkids. She enjoyed attending church at Safe Harbor Church in Kingsport, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roscoe E. Sivert; infant daugher, Emma Olene; parents, William “Bill” and Ellen Stone Carter; brothers, Milford, Mack, Emmett, and Bill Carter; and step-grandaughter, Suzie Bond. She is survived by four daughters and son-in-laws, Judy and Hollis Anderson, Jan and Bill Blair, Mary and Jim Judkins, Robin and C.M. Bond; son, David and wife, Pam Sivert; brother, Paul & wife, Helen Carter; grandchildren, Terry Sivert, Dean Anderson, Tony Anderson, Billy Blair, Edna Rossi, Angie Overbay, Melinda Stapleton, Holly Doran, Bobby Russell, Travis Russell, Lee White, and Dare Bond; step-grandchildren, Jason Judkins and Jennifer Frazier; eighteen great-grandchildren; two special sister-in-laws, Carol Carter and Margie Carter; special niece, Sue Keesee; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday (August 6, 2015) from 5-7pm at the Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home Life Celebration Chapel with Pastor Mark Stapleton and Pastor Charles Keesee officiating after the visitation at 7pm. Burial will be at the Sivert Family Cemetery (Stanley Valley Road, Gate City, VA) on Friday (August 7, 2015) at 11:00am. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends. Family will receive friends anytime at Mrs. Opal Siverts residence. In lieu of flowers, Opal requested donations be made to Safe Harbor Church (1205 Gibson Mill Road, Kingsport, TN, (423)-863-5028).
