Ernest "Gene" Troy Dollar, 78, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born in Blountville, TN, Gene was a hardworking man with a heart as big as the hills he called home. He proudly ran his own business, Gene Dollar Plumbing and Repairs, for many years, always showing up with a smile and a solution. Whether it was fixing a leak or lending a hand, folks knew Gene as someone they could count on.
He had a deep love for country music and could often be found strumming his guitar and sharing stories-some true, some tall, but all entertaining. Gene never met a stranger and made fast friends everywhere he went. He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Gene had a knack for restoring old furniture and passed down everything he knew about cars to his son. But more than anything, he was a family man. His greatest joy came from being "Papaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He showed up for them with pride in his eyes and love in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Everett and Hallie Dollar; brothers Harold, Gary, and Manley; sisters Mildred and Goldie; beloved daughter Nikki and her son and his grandchild, Henley; his beloved dogs, Woody and Charlie.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Teresa; sons, Matthew and partner Misty, and Rick and wife Susan; grandchildren, Hannah Ramey, Khloe Ramey, Parker Ramey, Hayden Dockery, Ashley Rose, Sophia Worley; great-grandchildren, Logan, Isabella, Benjamin, Elijah, Preston, and Catlin Davis; brothers Eddie and Larry; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at Trinity Memorial from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow. Bobby Flowers will be officiating. Private internment will be at Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Gene's legacy is one of music, hard work, family, and friendship. His hands built a life full of meaning, and his stories, laughter, and love will echo on in the hearts of all who knew him.
