Dwight Michael Smith

October 3, 1953 — August 3, 2024

Elizabethton

Dwight “Mike” Smith passed away on August 3rd, 2024 after giving a great fight to an extended illness. He was wonderful Christian Father and Grandfather. He loved being outside pedaling with anything/everything he could. He really loved watching his tomato plants grow.

When Mike was 14 years old, he met his love of his life and married her on May 1st,1972: Kathy Bowling Smith. They were married for 52 years.

He was wonderful Christian father and grandfather. His legacy is that he led his grandchildren to the Lord and his greatest moment in his life was watching his grandchildren give their life to the Lord.

Those left to cherish Mike's memory are his loving wife, Kathy; sons, Michael (Dena) Smith and Christopher Smith, both of Elizabethton; grandson, Hunter Smith (Michael) of Elizabethton; granddaughters, Katlyn and Lily Smith (Christopher), both of Elizabethton; granddaughter in heart, Jada Gould (Hunter Smith girlfriend of 6 years) of Elizabethton; brothers, Dolan (Diane) Smith of Elizabethton, Gene (Joann) Smith of Bluff City, Danny “Shorty” (Sharon) Smith of Elizabethton; sister, Reginia “Cookie” Lovelace of Elizabethton; and many nieces and nephews he loved very much. Mike had many friends; he never met a stranger and he loved them all!

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Edith Campbell Smith; and brother, Ernie Smith; all of Elizabethton.

Special thanks to Little Doe Freewill Baptist Church Family for all the prayers and everything they have done and to all the local Ballad Health hospital workers. A very Special thank you to Floor 2200 nurses at JCMC for their kindness in his last days.
