Dora Jean Peters

Dora Jean Peters, “Jean the Queen,” 77, of Kingsport, TN, went to sleep in Jesus on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Jean was born in Kingsort, TN, on January 31, 1946 with her twin brother, Jerry Peters, to Jama and Chapman Peters. Her favorite things to do were, first and foremost, singing and playing her guitar for Jesus. She loved going to church and praising Jesus. She loved her family and friends and she would rather make someone laugh than eat.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chapman and Jama Peters; her twin brother, Jerry Peters; brother, Tommy Peters; beloved mamaw, Maw Horn.

Jean is survived by her children, Angela and Billy Hensley and Karen Whetsel; her grandchildren whom she adored, Brittany and Jeff Milburn, Brandy Mayronne, Vanessa and Patrick Weber, Johnathon Hensley, Stephen Mayronne, and Jama Whetsel; brothers and sisters, Larry and Carolyn Peters, Sheila Peters, and Evelyn Ford; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In honor of Jean, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Spirit of Deliverance Holiness Church, 1124 Leland Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665.

The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Trinity Memorial Centers, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tennessee. A funeral service will follow at 8 PM with Pastor Billy Hensley and Brother Tony Hobbs officiating. Graveside interment will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at East Tennessee Cemetery, 2630 Highway 75, Blountville, Tennessee.
