Donald Michael Erickson

Donald M. Erickson passed away on October 2, 2024 in Kingsport, TN. Born in NJ on September 22, 1937 to parents Julian Erickson and Dorothy Berry. Don graduated from Boonton High School and lived his life in the Morris County, NJ area.

Don is survived by his children Lynn Krieger (Aaron), Jon Erickson (Amy), Sherry Scerbo (Richard) and Dawn Pollock (Robert). He leaves behind grandchildren Ben, Alex and Megan Krieger, Jon and Michele Erickson, Nolan, August, Calhan Erickson, and Tori Hurt, Rebekah Snyder (Jayme), Melanie Delgado (Marc), Danielle Gough (John), Zachary O'Beirne, Alexander Scerbo, Veronica and Jared Pollock; as well as 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents Julian and Dorothy, brother Robert, sister Margaret and son Ronald.

Starting at a young age, Don would meet with his father after school to work on the paving of new roads in the Rockaway area. He later would continue with the same hard work ethic in all of his business ventures. Building homes, antique car restoration, trucking, and tinkering on whatever heavy equipment he could get his hands on. He loved sharing his knowledge on all of these subjects, often with a fun pun! He was a collector of many things, and was very proud when the American Pickers scouts came to the shop to have a look around and to hear all the stories of his life long collections.

Don was known to many in the family as Pop, Pop Pop and Poppity Pop; always greeting us with a smile and a "one liner". He was full of jokes, stories and most importantly a history lesson. Don loved sharing his passion for the preservation of cars, trucks, heavy equipment and local history. He belonged to many historic and civic clubs and organizations. Notably Easy DIggin' Chapter NJ, The Historical Society of Rockaway Township NJ and Model A Ford Club of America. Don also had a huge heart for animals throughout his life. Loving and caring for not only his many cats and dogs but also birds, and any other small creatures that found its way into the shop.

To honor Don's wishes there will be no funeral services.
