Diane L. Holland

Diane L Holland, 67, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 1, 2017. Diane fought a courageous battle with cancer, until pneumonia overtook her body and she gained her wings. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Her children arise up and call her blessed."...Proverbs 31:10, 28. Diane was born in Jefferson City, TN to the late James and Imogene Vesser. It was there she was raised alongside two brothers. Shortly after graduating Jefferson City High she met, fell in love, and eventually married the love of her life. They went on to have two daughters. She loved her girls more than anything. Her greatest accomplishments were her love for the Lord, her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. Diane worked at Magnavox in Jefferson City. After settling in Kingsport, she obtained her cosmetology license from Draughons Jr. College of Cosmetology, all while raising her daughters. Diane had battled ADD and depression most of her life, so this accomplishment was something she was very proud of. Diane was well known as the "Cotton Candy Lady". She and the family sold cotton candy at Walmarts from Norton, VA to Madisonville, TN. Diane was a people person; she had a contagious smile with a caring heart. She would often sneak bags of cotton candy to children who did not have money. Diane loved life and lived each moment to the fullest. Anyone who knew Diane would say, SHE LOVED! In the community, she was known as "Momma D". She was a surrogate mother to countless people. She loved everyone that she came in contact with and they loved her in return. Her family often joked that she could make friends at a red light. Momma D would have wanted everyone to know that, 'Life is way far too short to keep your bloomerz in a wad. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; James and Imogene Vesser. She is survived by the love of her life, Gary M Holland; daughters, Brandi Holland Castillo and husband Chuck Castillo; Jessica "Tank" Holland; grandchildren, Mikaylah and husband Jeremy McKee, Morgan Holland, Marin Castillo, Michael Castillo; great grandson Jeremiah McKee; brothers, Jimmy Vesser and wife Nancy, Don Vesser; nephew Eric Vesser and niece Jenny Vesser; several cousins and good friends; Special thanks to close friends, Penny Renfro and Michelle Sexton. A Life Celebration will be held at Preaching Christ Church in Kingsport on Saturday, September 9 at 6:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by Pastor Chad Roberts and Phil Goins. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Donations will also be accepted at that time. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
