Dale Edward McComber, 71, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024 at the James H. Quillien VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. His family appreciates their care and attention.

He was born in Massena, New York and was the son of Lawrence "Mac" and Sophia McComber. He graduated from Massena Central High School in 1971. He enlisted in the Marines shortly after graduation. He was a lifelong supporter and recipient of DAV.

He moved to Massachusetts for better employment opportunities and eventually became an Applications Engineer for Simplex Grinnell, obtaining multiple degrees to support his career. He was a lifelong learner and always believed in the power of education.

Dale was a Marine and was proud to have served his country. He was a dedicated Shriner and valued their mission of helping others. In 2006 he fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a Master Mason.

He was an avid reader and a writer. Throughout his life he belonged to, and led, several writer's groups. He enjoyed visiting his local Senior Center to be with friends and play pool. He liked to spend his time; hunting, fishing, playing role playing games, collecting model cars, watching movies, playing Chess and archery.

He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands. He was a traveler, especially of the open road. A motorcyclist his entire adult life, he often said, "My favorite bike is the one that I'm on" but truth be told, he loved a nice fast car too.

In 2018 Dale retired and moved to Telford, Tennessee where he spent the remainder of his life. He loved its open spaces, winding roads and friendly folks. His family deeply appreciates all those who welcomed him with open arms. He truly enjoyed his time there.

He was also a proud parent. He is survived by his daughters, Brandy Y. Alweiss and Jasmin A. McComber. He also had two grandchildren; Alexis K. McComber and Ariana H. Goulkin.

There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or to the Gun Owners of America League. He would also have appreciated a shot of Dr. McGillicuddy in his honor.
