Clarence Habley "Pops" Overbay

Clarence Habley (Pops) Overbay, age 88, of Kingsport, TN passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Wexford House. He was born in Hawkins County, TN, but had been in the Kingsport area most of his life. He loved working in his garden and he loved to watch wrestling. Pops is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Woods Overbay; great grandson, Christopher Harvey; stepchildren, Vernon Garrett, Willard Garrett and Doris Steffey; brothers, Bill Overbay, Herman Overbay, Elmer Overbay and James Overbay; and sister, Shelby Overbay. He is survived by his son, David Overbay and wife Cathy, of Atlanta, GA; son, Reuben Garrett and wife Nancy, of Kingsport, TN; daughters, Patricia Cody, Donna Gillenwater and husband Norman, both of Kingsport, TN; 11 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; 16 great grandsons; 16 great granddaughters; 3 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home. The service is to follow with Rev. Johnny Gibson, Rev. Leonard Dixon and Rev. Charlie Thacker officiating. Graveside service will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Phillips, Kenny Garrett, Glenn Stewart, Kevin Howington, Norman Gillenwater and Gabriel Riggs. The family would like to give a special thanks to Holston Manor Nursing Home, Amedisys Hospice and Jerry and Angela Harvey for all their love and care and their dedication to make sure Pops was well taken care of.
