Cheryl "Marla" Gay Larsen

April 29, 1949 - October 6, 2024

Cheryl "Marla" Gay Larsen, 75, of Kingsport, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Born in Belton, TX, Cheryl graduated from Maynard Evans High School in Pine Hills, FL. She was the beloved mother of her "one and only Brat," Stefaney, and was known for her selfless devotion to her family. For over 20 years, Cheryl worked as a school bus driver with the Orange County Public School Transportation Department. After her first retirement, she found joy in her second career as a door greeter at Walmart, always bringing a smile to those around her.

Cheryl cherished her time at the local farmers market and loved to crochet, making treasured blankets for her family and passing this skill along to her daughter. Her special bond with Stefaney's dog, Odie, who adored her in return, was a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, held a special place in her heart. They were always excited to see her, their faces lighting up when she arrived. Cheryl loved her daughter's homemade meatloaf and frequently asked for it, a small but cherished tradition between them. Above all, she was not only a mother but also her daughter's best friend.

Her beloved nickname, "Marla," came from her granddaughter's endearing attempt to say "Grandmother," and it stuck, becoming a symbol of the closeness she shared with her family.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Genie (Montgomery) Stewart; her sister, Cae Wills; and her brother, Don Stewart.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Stefaney, and husband, Floyd Scalf; sons, Andy Larsen and wife, Alice, and Phillip Larsen; cherished grandchildren, Zachary and wife, Alyssa, Feliecia and husband, Randy, Rachael and husband, Brandon, Ashley, Amber, Jeremey, Aaliyah, Lucy, Brayden, Gracie, Jerico, Julia, Nina, Randy, and Corey; and great-grandchildren, Abbigail, Toby, Brantley, Audrey, Carol, Rylie, Kylie, Oakley, Jaxon, Harper, Jack, Floyd, Maisie, Ripley, Skylar, Cody, Aleyah, Scarlett, Rylee, Violet, and Avengaline. Cheryl is also survived by her twin brother, Daryl Stewart, and special nieces and nephews, Wendy Honeycutt, Doug, Jeremy, Danielle, Dusty, and their children.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
