Charles Melvin Grizzle, 83, of Gate City, VA, went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Charles was born in Manville, VA in 1936. Early in life he met his sweetheart, Doris, and they started a family in 1956. Charles was a great husband, father and grandfather. He loved to be around people and never met a stranger. Charles loved to farm, hunt, and loved his animals.
Charles repented, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins, and received the Holy Ghost at Manville Holiness Church in 1971. From that point on he and Doris were forever changed and became Kingdom minded. They dedicated their whole lives to the ministry from that day on.
Charles helped found the First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ Rye Cove, VA and Gate City United Pentecostal Church. He served on several church boards throughout his life.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucy Grizzle; beloved daughter, Ivadell Vernon; brother, Bruce Grizzle; sisters, Bernice Trivett and Cora Finch; step-sister, June Wilder.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Doris Grizzle; sons, Danny Grizzle and wife Vicki, Dennis Grizzle and wife Karen; daughter, Penny Boggs and husband Timothy; grandchildren, Travis Grizzle, Heather Ferguson, Andrea Salyer, Evan Grizzle, Justin Boggs, Lindsay Vernon; great grandchildren, Anna Grace, Avery, Allie, Jackson, Kinsley, Easton, and Vivian; son-in-law, Benjamin Vernon; brothers, Johnny Grizzle and wife Rosa, Earl Grizzle and wife Teresa; sisters, Faye Saez, Minnie Grizzle, and Becky Grizzle; special friend and adopted son, Joe Boggs.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on June 7th from 5pm to 7pm at Gate City United Pentecostal Church. Service will follow with Pastor Danny Grizzle officiating, Mitchell Salyer and Pastor Ronnie Perkins speaking.
Graveside service will be held at 11am on June 8th at Adam’s Cemetery in Gate City, VA. Pallbearers will be Travis Grizzle, Justin Boggs, Evan Grizzle, Travis Salyer, Jason Barber, and Nathan Barber.
