Charles Carter Hess, 51, of Blountville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Charlie had lived in Kingsport, TN, off and on throughout his life while he was growing up, and later as an adult. He played basketball for and graduated from Kingsport Christian School and was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Charlie was very outgoing and loved life. He was lucky to have many adventures, living all over the country from California to Florida, even in Puerto Rico, and most recently back in Tennessee. His favorite past time was bowling, but he was also a big wrestling fan. Charlie went to West Virginia to look for Mothman, traveled to Area 51, pursued his fascination with Bigfoot, was an ardent Trekkie, and an avid gamer of 80's video games. He loved to travel and would frequently get in his car for impromptu visits with his family in Florida. He had also been to many Hess family reunions in Michigan over the years. Charlie was loved by many.
Charlie is preceded in death by his father, Frank Ira Hess of Monroe, MI; sister, Wendy Carter Hess of Church Hill, TN; cousin, Cindy Wheatly of Harrogate, TN.
Charlie will be remembered and continually loved by his mother, Joanna Rose Hess of Daytona Beach, FL; sister, Theresa Hyatt (Brian/"Baby") of Daytona Beach; niece, Amber Sexton of Daytona Beach, FL; nephew, Justin Hyatt (Kimmie) of Ormond Beach, FL; great-nephews, Logan Hull and Jacob Hyatt; great-niece, Elizabeth Hyatt; a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Hess side; a myriad of friends from his many adventures.
It was Charlie's wish to be cremated, and his family will be holding a private Celebration of Life.
Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the Hess family.
