Cecil Culler Minter

Cecil “Red” Minter, 81, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2017. He was born September 17th, 1936 the son of the late Stafford Minter and Martha Anne Minter. Mr. Minter graduated from Martinsville High School, Ferrum College and Elon College. He was a hard worker and a lover of the great outdoors. He enjoyed honoring KPD with his wonderful cooking skill. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Tennessee Vols and Dale Earnhart Sr. He is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Grizzle and father-in-law, Leland Kilgore. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon Minter; children, Russ Tanner and wife Jill, Misty Harrison and husband James, Mark Christian and wife Jamie; grandchildren, Devon and Erin, Laura and Rusty, Hunter and Jayden, Reilee and Aiden; brother, Malorey David Minter; special cousin, Mary Sutton; mother-in-law, Ruby Kilgore; brother-in-law, Bruce Kilgore; sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Scalf and husband Junior, Diane Grizzle, Gwen Whiten and husband Ed. Aunts and Uncles, nieces and nephews, many friends and especially the Kingsport Police Dept. A gathering of friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday December 21, 2017 at Holy Mt. Baptist Church ( 3121 Ashley Street, Kingsport, TN 37664). The service will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastors Jerry Musick, Mike Malone and Tim Price officiating. The burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Friday December 22, 2017. Pallbearers will be members of the Kingsport Police Dept. Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (423-723-8177) is honored to serve the family.
