Carolyn Gibbons

November 28, 1945 - January 01, 2023

Carolyn C. Gibbons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1st, 2023, due to injuries sustained in a car accident. She was loved by all who knew her. Her life revolved around her family, her two sons, and the apple of her eye, her grandson.

Carolyn graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 1964. She was active with Alumni functions for the “Class of ’64”. She organized and helped plan many reunions for her class over the years. She was a Stockbroker for 26 years employed by several brokerages and banks from Kingsport to Memphis. She and her husband Rick were married for 29 years and together raised a beautiful family. She was happy to share her proudest life moment when her grandson Aaron graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 2021 continuing the legacy of “Roll Tribe”. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport and the Agape Sunday School Class.  She was also involved with Shades of Grace Church helping serve as an advocate for those who have fallen through the cracks. Carolyn was also active with her many friends on Facebook and truly loved each one of them. She will be so missed by them all.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, James N. Camp, mother, Nell D. Camp, brothers Richard S. Camp and James N. Camp, Jr., and her infant daughter Amy Lynn Parsons.

She is survived by her husband, Richard S. Gibbons, Jr, her two sons, Robert Daniel Parsons II and Anthony Todd Parsons, and her grandson, Aaron Lucas Parsons. She is also survived by her nephews, Dr. Jason Camp, Richard Ham and Ben Camp, her niece Rachel Camp and cousins Dennis Camp, Linda Ward, Donna Harris, Cynthia Camp, and Gary Camp.

“Times like these are something you will remember for the rest of your life; it almost seems unreal to me. Carolyn Camp Gibbons was not only my grandmother but a mother to me, someone who has taken me in from day one when I needed a place to live. She will always have a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. I know that everyday will be a challenge for me and others as well, but I will never forget how happy she made me feel on a day that was rough. She was always someone I could look up to whenever I was down or just needed a sense of hope to look upon. I look back on the many memories of the “I Love You’s” and “Stay Safe’s” when I leave home to go to work or school. I will always miss our late-night talks about wondering what I would do in the future of life and laughing about the little things. I remember her favorite food in the morning was breakfast from Pal’s and being able to eat cheddar rounds, goodness she loved those things. But besides all of this, I truly always had a best friend with me, and I am going to miss her every single day. She was a true warrior in my life and taught me many things along the way that are going to carry with me for the rest of my life. I love you, Mamaw, and I am going to fulfill my promise to you that I will make it into this world and be successful for you as I promised. Again…I love you greatly Carolyn and I will see you again one day.”

I love you Mamaw so very much,

               Aaron Parsons
