Carlie Harris Bernard

March 14, 1929 — June 25, 2014

Mrs. Carlie Harris Bernard, age 85, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. A native of Rogersville, TN, Carlie lived in Kingsport for over forty years. She was retired from Holston Valley Medical Center following 17 years of service. She was a former member of Beach Creek Missionary Baptist Church for many years before recently joining Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsport. Carlie enjoyed quilting, flowers, and gardening. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Parker Trent; husband, Lover Bernard; step-son, P.J. Trent; sisters, Sally and Emmie Harris, Ruth Wade, Fronie Light, Ada Hale, and Ernie Brotherton and brothers, Clarence Harris, Carson Harris, and Arlie Harris. Surviving are two sisters, Elsie Harris of Kingsport, and Ona Hickman of Johnson City; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Bobby and Debbie Winegar, Bobby Jones, and Lizzie Harris. Visitation will be held from 1-2:30pm Sunday at Trinity Memorial. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30pm on Sunday, June 29, 2014 in the chapel of Trinity Memorial with Pastor Kelly Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Beach Creek with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Carlies caregivers.
