Brenda Kay Duty

Brenda Kay Duty, 69, of Abingdon, VA, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, with her family by her side.

Brenda was one of four children born to Paul and Sally Mae Reynolds in Abingdon, Virginia. As a strong and capable woman, Brenda raised her beloved daughter, Melinda Smith on her own. She was a devoted mother and friend, who didn't see the faults in others. She believed the best of everybody. Brenda was a collector of knickknacks and was always capable of repairing and restoring beloved items.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her brothes, John "Jay" Wesley Reynolds and Charlie Reynolds.

Those left to cherish Brenda's memory include her loving daughter, Melinda Smith (Heri) of Meadowview, VA; grandsons, Brandon Gonzalez (Meadowview, VA) and Dakola Smith (Abingdon, VA); granddaughter, Jla Olinger (Abingdon, VA ); great-granddaughter, Annabell Lee Morrison (Abingdon, VA); sister, Linda Mitchell (Abingdon, VA); nephews, Michael Mitchell (Marion, VA) and Matthew Mitchell (Abingdon, VA); several other nieces and nephews; special thanks to great-niece and great-nephew, Maddie and Malakai Mitchell for their loving care and help.

The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life when the weather warms.
