Bobby Dean Taylor, 79, passed away Sunday morning at Holston Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health. Bob was born on February 21, 1938 in Dickenson County, Virginia and was the son of a coal miner. He grew up in Clintwood where he played for the Greenwave and legendary football coach, Ralph Cummins. In 1958, his family moved to Haysi where he completed his senior year of high school. Bob earned an Associates Degree in Police Science in 1987 from Virginia Highlands Community College and retired from Burns Security Services in the 1990's. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zephyr and Estil Taylor; sisters, Neeshia Browne, Jane Lee and Susie Frances Taylor; daughter, Pamela Denise Ferguson; and the love of his life, Linda Moore Taylor. Survivors include his sons, Dean Taylor and wife, Lou; twins, Jason Taylor and wife, Traci, Jon Taylor and wife, Leah, Tim Pilkenton and wife, Yvonne, Aaron Pilkenton and wife, Jackie and Daren Pilkenton and wife, Kim; brothers, Jim Taylor of Abingdon, VA and Niles Taylor of Richmond, VA; twelve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. A private celebration of life is planned for the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children (950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605).
