Betty Miller

March 2, 1928 — July 18, 2021

Betty Joe (Nave) Miller, 93, passed away Sunday, July 18th at Orchard View after an extended period of declining health. She was born in Detroit, MI to the late Bill and Mamie Nave. She resided in Kingsport most of her life. Betty graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School where she played saxophone in the band and was elected Class Historian. She was a devoted wife and mother, after her children were grown she worked in accounting and retired from Dent K. Burke Associates after many, many years of loyal service. In retirement Betty stayed extremely busy knitting baby blankets for the Kingsport Senior Center as well as gifts for family and friends to present to recipients around the world. She was her son's caregiver in the final months of his life. Her congenial attitude was much appreciated during her stay at Orchard View. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Marvin "Tommy" Miller, her daughter Carol Miller and son David "Otis" Miller. She is survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister Peggy Ferrell and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Vanessa and the other nurses, doctors and staff at Orchard View for their care of Betty Joe. A memorial service has not been scheduled at this time. "And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it."
