Betty Jo Crawford

Betty Jo Crawford, 82, was carried away by angels to be with the Lord on Saturday (December 27, 2014) after a short illness. Born in Roan Mountain, Tn., Betty lived most of her life in Kingsport where she raised her three children along with many grandchildren. She worked at the Kingsport Press for nearly 12 years, later deciding to be a stay at home mother. She loved to meet new people, and loved asking questions. She never knew a stranger, and was always kind to everyone. She was spry, witty, and had the biggest heart anyone could have. Her children and family were most important to her. So many lives were positively affected by her beautiful soul. She is, and will be sorely missed by her surviving family. She is preceded in death by her parents H.G. Gilliam and Jeanette Gilliam; sister, Jean Gilliam; brother, Forrest (Doc.) Gilliam; and her beloved son, Todd Crawford. She is survived by her loving husband, Luther (Charlie) Crawford; three sisters, Doris Carter, Lou Dorsey, of Kingsport, and Kim Fitzgerald of Texas; three daughters, Marty Roberts, Tyanna, and Chasity Crawford; two sons, Chase and Chance Crawford; three grandchildren, Josh Roberts, Courtney Hodge, and Dillon Hodge; three precious great-grandchildren, Kylah, and Eli Crawford, and Paxton Roberts, all from Kingsport. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home (1221 Stewball Circle Kingsport) on Thursday (January 8, 2015) from 5 to 7 pm.
