Betty Jean Johnson

Betty Jean Johnson, age 76, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Wexford House. She was born on August 16, 1937 in Sullivan County where she resided all her life. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Johnson; parents, Ethel and Akie Bishop; two sisters; and one brother. Surviving are her children, Bernice Ramey and husband James of Kingsport; James Michael Johnson of Kingsport; Martin Neal Johnson and wife Cindy of Kingsport; Everette Lee Johnson and wife Tammie of Kingsport; Sherry Lynn Dennis and husband David of Kingsport; grandchildren, Crystal Bowman and husband Steve, James Michael Johnson, Jr. and wife Summer, Dillon Johnson, Brianna Dennis, Shawn Dennis, Hannah Johnson, and Chasidy Hicks, Chad Hicks; great-grandchildren, Tyler Bowman, Steven Johnson, Kylie Nelson, Braydon Buchanan, Dianna Buchanan, Cody Roberts, Dustin White, and Kayla White; one sister, Lucille Frances of New York; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 1-3pm Sunday at Trinity Memorial. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Trinity Memorial with Pastor Jonny Gibson officiating, music will be by Gail Taylor and Nell Clayman. Burial will follow in procession from Trinity Memorial to Gardners Chapel Cemetery in Blountville. Pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Chad Hicks, Thomas Willis, Rick Gillenwater, Justin Stallard, and Cody Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Livesay, James M. Johnson, Jr., Paul Carter, Steve Bowman, and David Dennis.
