Bettie Bellamy

June 12, 1940 — March 9, 2021

Bettie Bellamy of Bristol, Tn passed away at the age of 80 at her home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle of illness. Bettie was born and raised in Taylor's Valley Virginia. She loved to read and write poems; she even won a poem writing contest in the 80's. In her earlier years she lived in Delaware for quite some time doing various jobs like waitressing, nursing and working with handicapped children. After returning to her southern roots, she retired from Bristol Lingerie Sewing Factory where she held the position of President of their Union, until the company went out of business. Bettie loved Our Lord Jesus Christ and listened to her preacher's sermons every Sunday morning faithfully. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Richardson Sr, and Mary (Daye) Richardson of Laurel Bloomery, Tn, brother, Richard Richardson of Mountain City, Tn, and stepson, James Bellamy of Mountain City, TN. Bettie is survived by her husband, James "Bud" Bellamy; children, Kimberly Montaque of Bristol Tn., James Sutton Jr, and wife Tracy of Ohio, and Sheryl Sutton-McCleary and her late husband, Lewis of Newark, Delaware; stepchildren, Cathy Bellamy, and husband (Charles) of North Carolina, Donna Bellamy Woods, and husband (Howell); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Richardson McClure and her late husband, Roger of Madison, Alabama, Linda Richardson Dewald of OBX North Carolina and James Richardson Jr of Johnson City, Tn. Per Bettie's request she was cremated, and the family celebrated her life privately. Trinity Memorial is proud to serve the family of Bettie.
